My recipe contains: Pure maple syrup, butter and heavy cream.
With only THREE real food ingredients, this is a caramel sauce I can enjoy and feel good about drinking in my coffee!
This sauce also makes a great topping for homemade ice cream!!
What you'll need to make this caramel sauce:
1 cup pure maple syrup
We love Costco's pure maple syrup
2 tbsp butter
Costco has a great grass-fed butter that we use
¼ cup heavy cream
I use Kalona SuperNaturals Heavy Cream. I haven't been able to find any other creams that only contain one ingredient, like theirs does. It's the best!
Here's how we make it:
Over medium/high heat bring the syrup to 220 degrees, using a candy thermometer
Once it reaches the desired temperature, remove from heat and add room temperature butter
After the butter is mixed in, add the heavy cream and continue mixing until it's blended completely
Let the caramel cool and then refrigerate to store
Enjoy!
I LOVE this recipe! I get to enjoy one of my favorite treats (almost every morning) without all of the refined sugar and extra ingredients!
I started making this recipe because I was desperate to enjoy caramel lattes without all of the extra, unnecessary ingredients. With only three real food ingredients, this is a caramel you'll love and feel good about consuming!
Ingredients
1cup Pure Maple Syrup
2tbsp Butter
1/4cup Heavy Cream (We love Kalona Naturals Heavy Cream)
Instructions
1
Over medium/high heat bring the syrup to 220 degrees, using a candy thermometer. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to reach this temperature
2
Once it reaches the 220 degrees, remove from heat and add room temperature butter
3
After the butter is dissolved, add the heavy cream
4
Let the caramel cool and then refrigerate to store
5
Enjoy!
Note
Be sure to continually stir the syrup as it's heating up. I don't stop stirring the entire 20 minutes!
