How to Sneak Beef Liver into Your Diet

Total Time: 24 hrs 20 mins

Beef organs.

It seems like this topic is one that really divides folks. There’s one group who loves to utilize organs in their daily diet and then there’s another group that the idea of eating liver, heart, tongue, etc. gives them the willies.

I’ll be the first to admit, I tend to fall into the category of sticking to the “standard” or more common cuts of beef… ground beef, steak, roasts, etc.

BUT… I am determined to challenge myself to change that and I hope if you fall into the same category, you’ll join me.

When we look at the benefits of beef liver, it is arguably one of the best superfoods out there and if you’re like me, you probably love the idea of adding those key vitamins and minerals into your diet but aren’t quite sure you’re willing to slurp down raw pieces of liver like you see folks doing on Instagram. (Don’t get me wrong, those people are AMAZING… I’m just not there yet! haha)

I’ve been looking at recipes and ways to better utilize these organ meats in our home and I found a sneaky way to add liver to some of the meals we make regularly.

Here’s An Easy Way to ‘Sneak’ Liver Into Your Diet

Ingredients:
+ 1 package of beef liver
+ 1-2 Cups Milk

Equipment Needed:
+ Food Processor or Blender
+ Ice Cube Trays

Directions:

1.  Rinse your thawed beef liver in water

2.  Soak the liver in milk and place in the fridge (anywhere from 2 hours to overnight- this makes the liver not as bitter)

3.  Slice the liver into small chunks and put it into the blender/food processor

4.  Blend until the liver is ground, it will be creamy/runny in appearance

5.  Pour into ice cube trays and place in freezer

6.  Once it’s completely frozen, remove the liver cubes from the trays and store in a ziplock bag in the freezer until you’re ready to use

7.  When you’re ready to use, add a cube or two to your favorite dishes!

I hope if you’re not enjoying organ meat already, you’ll consider giving this a try! Cheers to organ meats and challenging ourselves to seek nutrient-dense foods!
