Healthy Caramel Latte (with homemade caramel)

I started making this recipe because I was desperate to enjoy caramel lattes without all of the extra, unnecessary ingredients.

Typical caramel sauce ingredient lists include the following: Corn syrup, invert cane sugar, water, cane sugar, skim milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed skim milk (skim milk, sugar), salt, natural flavor, sodium citrate, pectin.

My caramel sauce recipe contains: Pure maple syrup, butter and heavy cream.

With only THREE real food ingredients, this is a caramel sauce I can enjoy and feel good about drinking in my coffee!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp homemade caramel sauce (recipe here)
  • 1 shot espresso
  • ½ cup frothed milk

Here’s how we make it: 

  1. Make the shot of espresso
  2. Mix the espresso with the homemade caramel sauce (recipe here)
  3. Froth ½ cup milk and add to espresso and caramel
  4. Enjoy!
